"Cloud Service" anyone? Hmm... I had a project ages ago for my own universl remote, but it got shelved because of these things mostly. There are several IR protocols around, absolutely not compatible of course. The most common one sends a device code followed by (possibly repeating) function codes.

I guess it might be related to the sharp pulse of the h-retrace causing some ringing in related circuitry. I didn't see that in any of the ones I restored, so maybe the aging caps theory has a point? I do recapping as a general precaution...

Oh... The crumbled switch seems to be the exact same as the one in the 1084S that gave me so much grief...

It's from the audio library... I am sure it has lots of uses.
