I wanna draw you a little picture. I first came to Palestine, to Gaza, in 2011. I have been spending four months a year here ever since, until this war. I'm very, very familiar with this place. I remember making this realization in the 201os that, oh my God, as bad as it is, and as much as I would always say to myself, it can't possibly get worse than this, it always got worse because there were always more ways to turn the screws on Palestinians. So I knew it was gonna be bad when I came. I knew it was gonna be bad. But there is no preparing you for this. During the previous wars, kids got killed. Of course, they got killed. They got crushed. They got bombed. They got shot. But this war, it's as though the kids are the only targets. There are so many kids, and it's so devastating, and there's so little I can do for them. Nothing could have prepared me for that.

I rarely see myself or the people I love in games and this is a game that does that and doesn't shy away from the magic my people know to be true. I don't usually play games outside my comfort zone, but as soon as I saw the preview for this, I knew I needed to try it myself. The accessibility levels make it so that I can enjoy the story I'm so excited to see unfold without being stopped by more than a few (dozen) tries at combat. The dialogue is what I came for and it's far from disappointing, it makes me feel at home and I'm so excited to see where the story goes. I wasn't expecting the art direction and animation to be beyond stellar. It was already gorgeous from the trailer but imbued with meaning from the story, it shimmers and shines in ways I didn't know a game could. The narrative direction in combination with the art direction are really helpful for someone like me who usually gets lost in any game super easily and the tutorials are helpful without being distracting and any help I get being woven into the fabric of the story makes me feel like asking for help is not only a good thing to do, but is highly encouraged. A lot of care and love and respect and knowledge went into this work and it shows. I cannot wait to finish just so I can press replay again. Thank you for this art.
