Going from digital to traditional gives me whiplash. Digital is so convenient everything is there, in 1 place, its good for lazy people like me. I'm so lazy I only used a dull pencil and couldn't be bothered to move 5 ft to to grab the eraser and sharpener

So how do I make a portfolio of my art? People have told me to include reference but when I look up example portfolios I do not see any references.

I need to cut myself some slack. I've only been taking art seriously since August and I can't expect to know everything. It's just frustrating to feel like 1 thing is holding me back, 1 thing that I feel could be solved if I could ask the right thing to the right person.

I really wish I had a more experienced artist to talk to. Most stuff in art comes pretty naturally to me but when it comes to colorful environments and light sources I just can't comprehend. Like I can do overcast lighting and white light sources but anything else is a no.
I'm so lost. How can I add light sources? Different blending layers like overlay and soft light look bad and hardly show up over the darker colors. How much color from the light should appear when mixed with other colors? Everything I've try looks bad. My head hurts.
