Jimin recited the prophecy in his head as he leaned forward, lighting each candle surrounding the altar that sat in the middle of the great temple of the gods nestled deep within the Vangirgnr Mountains, between the Twin Peaks. The temple, built into the mountainsides and carved into the hearts of the peaks with winding corridors and large archways and altar rooms with ceilings that reached all the way to holes carved into the mountaintops, had withstood more than five Ages of existence, never once losing its ornate architectural integrity. Originally constructed as the home of the gods before they ascended from Issëa in the Second Age, it had over the millennia become a place of worship for all in Issëa, should they wish to travel from any of the five realms surrounding Bera and pay reverence to the Creators themselves. Light trickled into the altar room of the east temple from the hole in the mountaintop, illuminating Jimin in a soft glow of moonlight. Despite the beauty of the ethereal glow of nighttime, Jimin’s skin crawled. It was not nighttime. It was early afternoon. But the sun had not shown in seven whole months, a sure sign of the eternal twilight spoken of in the Prophecy of the Protector. It was why Jimin was here today, kneeling in front of this altar, reciting the prophecy as he bowed his head and prayed to the gods to send their prophesized one. Issëa needed its Protector. Surely, the gods had not forsaken the free peoples, leaving them to their own doom at the hands of the Mithlóris Fae. The gods would not do to their own creations—would they? Jimin shook his head in silence. No, they wouldn’t. The gods loved their creations. They adored the free peoples of Issëa, and there was no way they’d ever abandon them to their fate. They would help them. The Protector would come. This eternal twilight would not last forever. The Sixth Age would end, but it would end in unity, not divide. A Seventh Age would come, but it would come with the dawn, not with perpetual nightfall. “I pray to you, Yrsahualva, for your guidance and your protection,” Jimin whispered softly into the air. “I ask that you please send the Protector down to help us, your Creations, the free peoples of Issëa, to aid us in bringing our world back into the natural order. Eternal twilight has fallen upon us. As the prophecy foretold, the Protector will usher in a New Age and return balance. Please, Yrsuahalva. I beg of you. Help us.” The only sign that Jimin’s prayer was heard by the Queen of the Gods and Goddess of Life and Creation herself was the soft breeze of air that rustled through his dense, heavy robes and light blonde hair.
