We launched Roll Models in January and received 70+ applications for our pilot programme. Since then, our brilliant cohort of 38 people have been getting out for rides and mid-week microadventures, swapping tips for trailside repairs & lightweight camp meals, and generally learning from one another

Having experienced the value of reciprocal mentorship myself through the Mountain Mentors programme in Canada and knowing how many barriers there can be to getting into adventuring by bike (something that gives me SO MUCH joy 🌟), I recognised the need for something similar here in Bristol.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the rhetoric of developers. But it's disgusting that these facts – which could similarly be used in an article highlighting the inequality of housing in Bristol – are being used to attract investors...

🚴 Two months after riding the Tour de Farce, I finally sat down to write up my journey, which (for better or for worse) has resulted in me making the bonkers decision to sign up to ride the Highland Trail 550 next May. Wish me luck!

Until this moment, I casually tossed around the phrase “hike-a-bike” when describing pushing my bike uphill for a few meters or so when I’d spin out on rocky roads, or when my GPS navigation would take me down a muddy or overgrown unrideable section of bridlepath…
