Been seeing this wee melanistic pīwakawaka hanging about a lot lately. Usually at least one each year. I like it better outside than when it comes in and flies around the house looking for spiders and flies to nom.

Seems like the pumpkin patch is flourishing with all the rain. Fingers crossed it warms up enough for the billions of pumpkins to ripen for harvest 🌱🇳🇿

Low hopes for the sugarbaby watermelons, they’ve formed a few baby fruit but everything so far has rotted off at the stem.

Last year was the first year the Waiau canes were in the ground. The fruit (tip crop only) was small and insipid. I gave the canes a stern talking to and said they needed to step or I would eradicate them and replace them with more of the Heritage.
Honestly didn’t know raspberries grew this big. 🇳🇿🌱
