That's not saying other art forms are in any way worse of course as their limitations can be the thing that makes them so beautiful imo.

I just have a feeling that games are still seen as a "product first, art? sometimes" kinda thing whereas books and films don't struggle with that.

Potentially. I would love to make sure it does but currently I don't have the funds for a steam deck to test with and I don't know anyone who owns one that I can borrow so I won't be 100% sure for now.
