The cultural part of this is sobering. It's not just greed that pushes people into mass denial. The Scotchgard guy was probably more worried about his identity and legacy when he chastised her for finding this inconvenient truth. Decision makers overestimating their objectivity.

I don't get the first amendment.

So money spent by "corporation-people" is protected speech but it's okay to oppress a human because their clothing is a political statement against a specific foreign country?

Availability of open land isn't really controlled here. Getting a farmer to finally sell to a developer is a lot easier than convincing your richest tax base to bulldose for higher density -- regardless of politics. This is also rampant outside the US.

To me the bridge design is the least important part of this. There's plenty of more vulnerable and older bridges with ships going by, and that's necessary and fine. I guess this touches fears on how sturdy infrastructure is vs looks.

It's weird that most people just reached acceptance here like there's no way to reduce the risk. Luckily there are professionals to figure it out for us. Probably some combination of pier protection and regulation (more tugs? less ship power loss?).

It's always good to try new tools. Even if you don't stick with it, it will grow your perspective and experience.
Pros:
- Job opportunities
- Flexibility and ease
- Lots of libraries
Cons:
- Bad error messages
- Slow
- Flexible enough to abuse
- Too many libraries

Have you tried Turning Complete? It goes all the way from logic gates to an assembly language and you're always building on the last concept.
