Press freedom activists now meeting in Brussels to denounce killings of journalists in Palestine and call for an end to impunity. Failure of the EU to stand up to Israel is a shameful stain on the bloc’s human rights record.

Council of Europe Journalist Safety Platform partners (including Committee to Protect Journalists) met CoE Secretary General @alain-berset.coe.int today. We discussed the need to maintain pressure on member states to avoid backsliding and measures to protect the press. Needed now more than ever.
