Know what’s frustrating? When you spend all day trying to consider the flow of the player through levels and how you can make a new mechanic to fix holes in that flow only for you to make it work and then figure out it doesn’t flow as well as you thought and have to scrap it. Another day of #GameDev

I absolutely despise UI logic. My main menu system was fine and I made some edits so naturally I had to test it. The entire main menu is now broke and undoing the edits doesn’t fix the issue…. This is gonna be a thing only coffee and music can solve. #GameDev

Game dev is fun. It still surprises me all the time. I was making an auto load script I could call whenever the player needs their progress saved. It wasn’t too bad. Meanwhile…. I keep tweaking player mechanics over and over again for the perfect feel and then noticing multiple new issues 😅 #GameDev

While doing a small playtest a friend sent me these snapchats as they made progress. I absolutely loved it. Watching others play my game is so much fun. #GameDev #SoloDev

I just now realized how painful projectile systems can be. Thought it would be fun to add a player projectile for some more depth. That code became a nightmare so quick because of pooling projectiles and cooldown timers.

The more I do game dev the more respect I have for those doing it.

After spending 6 hours today overlooking about 7 nodes, 5 different scripts, and struggling I have learned that high speed projectiles are difficult to handle. Death logic and timers kept resetting and creating death loops. I’m going to be more cautious about what I add in the future 😅 #GameDev

Been putting in a lot of time recently to work on player movement and wanted to show it off. My game doesn't have a name yet, but it's been so much fun tinkering with them to try and get the right feel!

Next up is some more levels!

Spent today editing a pixel dragon. The size is 32x32, but the inside portion is about 16x16.

I’m hoping to use this and others similar as part of UI assets of a 2D platformer game I’m working on. I think it’s pretty eye catching for such a tight space.
