I am anticipating my EV purchase will be circa 2027-28. Right now, I’d rather spend the money on solar for the house. Plus, as you know, I just bought a house two months ago, so cash is not free-flowing now and it’s hard for me to justify the EV when my current car works, compared to solar.

Yes, my last trip (LPSC) I looked up Avis and it said 70%. I wouldn’t use that getting from HOU to the hotel, but I would going back (sun of the two), and I was concerned about morning Houston traffic. Plus, the only EV they had was from fElon.

For this trip to FLG this time, I did get a Prius hybrid. Much better mileage than other hybrids I’ve rented and I’ll do it again. Trip back down to PHX I expect will use 2 gallons of gas in 2 hrs.

I’m still driving my 2005 Subaru that I got new that year. My next car will be an EV. However, I won’t rent one. I don’t want to be stuck charging for 15-30 minutes before returning it when I can gas up in <5. When the tech for charging gets comparable, then I’ll rent one for work trips.

The amount of scam letters I got in the first few weeks of buying this house has been amazing. Mostly dealing with financing or home warranties. Had to read the small print many times to make sure that they all said they were not affiliated at all with the home builder or my insurance or my lender.
