On Saturday evening (February 1st) the Moon and Venus appeared very close together. This is known as a conjunction. They really aren't that rare, as the Moon does pass near all of the planets every cycle, but sometimes it appears closer than others. Taken by me in North Georgia.

Look closely and you can see Mars just below the Moon in this image. Not long after this the Moon completely covered Mars for about an hour. This is called a lunar occultation. Taken by me in North Georgia. #astronomy #space #science #moon #mars

I didn't get to travel this past year for the solar eclipse, so I went to a local science museum here in North Georgia and did outreach with my telescopes. I set up a camera and got this amazing shot of the 80% eclipsed Sun. #astronomy #science #space #astrophotography

I used my Seestar computerized telescope that I bought a while back. I control it with my phone or iPad, and I can sit inside while the scope is taking images in my driveway.

I can have the Seestar up and running in about 5 minutes.
