Das Licht braucht achteinhalb Minuten um genau zu sein. Aber Teilchen, und die sind es ja, die die geomagnetische Aktivität auslösen, die sind zwar schnell, aber nicht mit Lichtgeschwindigkeit unterwegs.

Man kann halt wild raten, wenn eine besonders aktive Region am Sonnenrand auftaucht, daß die ausgerechnet dann, wenn sie perspektivisch günstig steht hochgeht, aber nunja. Das kann halt auch gnadenlos schiefgehen. Hatten wir erst letztens. Fetter Sonnenfleck, aus dem nix rauskam

Letztlich gilt: Sobald wir direkt sehen, daß auf der Sonne etwas passiert - sei es eine Flareeruption oder ein aktives koronales Loch - dann klappt das halbwegs und man hat je nach Geschwindigkeit so ca. eineinhalb bis zwei Tage Zeit, bis das Zeug bei uns auf der Erde ankommt

My impression is that Vaionis is for smart telescopes what Nokia was for mobile phones. A pioneer (with Stellina) but today far from significant on the market. Only few people have the Vespera; I have never seen it in action. The Seestar community on the other hand is huge

Oh yeah, I remember the Pan-STARRS images with those annoying streaks very well... Rumour has it they even added fake streaks. Finally they gave up this bs because literally everyone with a 2m telescope could see these satellites, and that's the point. 8m telescopes are much rarer...
