Find the comet: C/2025 R2 (Swan) plays hide and seek between the nebulae and clusters in the Scutum/Sagittarius region, but reveals itself by its distinctive green glow.
Taken from a reasonably dark location just outside Potsdam with a Nikon 105mm f2.8 with 12x30 sec exposures.

Comet 2025 A6 (Lemmon) can now be spotted with binoculars in the NE before dawn. I took this photo on October 3rd under fairly high light pollution from Potsdam, Germany. Exposure was 25 mins with Nikkor 500mm/f5.6. 🔭 #astrophotography

Wondering where the moon is tonight? In #Potsdam, the 6-day-old moon was hanging very low in the sky as it culminated in the south just before sunset. With -29 degrees, its declination is as low as allowed by the 5.15-degree tilt of its orbit with respect to Earth's orbit around the sun.

On September 23, 1846, planet Neptune was discovered by Johann Gottfried Galle at the Berlin Observatory. Today, Neptune is in opposition and culminates at local midnight. As in 1846, this year Neptune can be found close to Saturn, making it easy to locate the planet with a pair of binoculars. 🔭

Faint noctilucent clouds were visible tonight low over the northern horizon from #Potsdam, Germany. Noctilucent clouds form at altitudes of about 80 km, much higher than the contrail, which partially obscures them. #astrophotography

Die blöde Plakatkampagne der AfD gegen Potsdams OB Mike Schubert hängt wohl mit seinem Engagement gegen Rechtextremismus zusammen. Schubert hat Sonntags eben nicht nur Fußball geschaut, sondern hat auch auf Demos von "Potsdam bekennt Farbe" gesprochen. Ich stimme heute mit NEIN.

Before the nights get too short, I took out the camera to catch Mars visiting the beehive cluster (Messier 44) on May 5th 2025. 110 x 10 sec with a Nikon 200-500 lens at 400mm, f/7.1.
