The following items are from the USA. We should all find replacements for them.

"Fromm Family" pet food is from Wisconsin, who voted for Trump. Doing business with anyone in Wisconsin should be a crime in Canada.

I will need to buy some dog food immediately and gradually move Astro Puppy onto some Canadian dogfood.

Anyone else buying "Fromm Family" food? Stop it now.

Like nearly everyone else I have been trying to figure out how to avoid buying US items.

Important to note that "Made in Canada" is 51% and "Product of Canada" is 98%. Facebook is drowning in advice. The “All American Made” site might help identify what to avoid.

Some notes below (image):

Candlemas is associated with an ancient Celtic celebration called Imbolc, which is a cross-quarter day.
The quarter days are roughly aligned with the spring and autumn equinoxes and the summer and winter solstices.

A big old moon means narrowband imaging. Here is a work in progress, the Rosette Nebula. Previous images were test images but this is going to be a part of the final Rosette.
Hydrogen Alpha emission line, passband 4nm wide at 656nm.

Another look at the Rosette Nebula, nearby in our galaxy.

This was a test of the "hyperstar" attachment on an ancient C14 SCT telescope. It was a smaller camera because I don't have the proper adapter. 3 hours of data used (around 50% of the total). RGB. Next test is with a full frame camera.

The galaxy’s mass doesn’t rotate in the spiral arms . These are pressure waves. Here, let me demonstrate how it is NOT happening…

Presenting the Triangulum Galaxy, by Calvin Klatt, reprocessed 2024-12. This is a spiral galaxy in our “local group”, loosely bound to Andromeda. It appears in the Triangulum constellation. The red (H Alpha) regions are nebulae in this distant galaxy.

Presenting the Iris Nebula, by Calvin Klatt, 2024-12

This is a reflection nebula approximately 1300 light years away from us, in our Galaxy the Milky Way. Illuminated by a very bright star, this nebula appears in the northern constellation Cepheus.

Astro puppy is enjoying the snow. He is 10 months old so has had little previous snow time. He will have plenty in the next few months…
