Astrophotographer and Dad sharing his love for the night sky. Come join me as I share my pictures from my telescopes.
In the deep cold south, I snapped up the Triangulum Galaxy (M33). This spiral galaxy is 2.73 million light years from Earth in the constellation Triangulum.

Triangulum is home to 40 billion stars, compared to 400 billion for the Milky Way and 1 trillion for Andromeda.

Another amazing gem in the night sky in the Constellation of Lyra is the Ring Nebula, M57.

The central star ran out of hydrogen fuel long ago and shed its atmosphere to space, where it is being ionized by the white star in the middle (planetary nebula).

French astronomer Jean-Dominique Maraldi discovered this globular cluster in 1746 while observing a comet. Charles Messier rediscovered it in 1760 and labeled it in his catalog as M2.

It contains around 150,000 stars and is located around 55,000 light years away in the constellation of Aquarius.

Pelican Nebula does not disappoint. An area of ionized interstellar hydrogen gas in the constellation Cygnus, many areas are obscured by interstellar dust. Located about 1800 light years away.

Taken October 29, 2024, just south of the bright lights of Atlanta.
