Still in academia but now in a more support role: research software engineer helping researchers develop optimal code for HPC systems. It’s bit a of a change but allows you to see other aspects of science you wouldn’t normally interact with. My last project was on molecular dynamics, for example 😊

Team Saheeli all the way!
My first commander precon I ever got was the original Saheeli precon from Commander 2018. Led to a love for artifacts that still exists to this day 😄

That's the issue. I am unsure exactly want to do. All I know is that I want to code. If I could find a position doing some fluid sims for some company that would be great but those roles are few and far between. I also have the issue of a two body problem now so I don't want to go too far 😅

So I am wondering if anyone has out there has been in my position and if so, what you all ended up doing? Is it a case I am just judging myself to hard, do I need consider advancing my skills in these areas or consider something entirely different? Cheers in advance!

Typically they go into data science or software dev. These days data science is mostly ML based which I haven't really explored, and the most software dev I've done is make a few hundred line C++ code to add a library to a sim code (aside from a lot of python analysis code).
