In studying Palestinian history, what kept the grieving mothers sane in the nakba was each other. They gave each other hope and reason to live and fresh baked meals when bereaved of their homes and children. Grief and suffering are inevitable but doing it alone is not inevitable.

Good solid mutual aid networks and community r hard to come by but not impossible. There are people in this world who do help without strings attached. Things r shitty and painful but you're literally less likely to be traumatized if you're in community so even if you're suffering don't do it alone

Not to ramble on but it's the same reason cis people love Emilia Perez caricatures of trans women & obituaries of our icons, and not breathing, living trans women. They can control the caricatures, the obituaries can't speak. But real live trans women can object to your behavior and have autonomy.
