ADDENDUM: Consider the costs of running a data center vs. some artists. One literally is upsetting entire sectors of the market with their absurdly high costs and energy needs, while the other just needs sleep, a sandwich, and to be listened to now and then.

If we're going to quibble over the morality of it, the cartel's bottom line is proving far worse than Reagan's war on pot and booger sugar. Over 72k people died of the fentanyl they're shipping last year, and to put that into context, that's the entire population of Peoria, IL. Per year.

It's frankly a similar situation: the Barbary pirates weren't officially fighting for the Ottoman Empire, but they were given safe harbor and political protection.
Further, these are only civilians in the sense they aren't uniformed military. That's the value of having a paramilitary arm.

No, I'm pretty sure the president rambling on about TDA and fentanyl is his argument. The Maduro Regime is treating the cartels as a paramilitary branch, and their petro customers are everyone we've tried sanctioning.

I frankly disagree. We're dealing with a regime that has rigged every election since Maduro got in, and is clearly using the Cartel del Sol as a paramilitary asset. The UN is toothless, and believe it or not, this is the exact sort of situation the Marine Corps was founded for.

tbh, torture seems like a waste of effort. They have tools that literally reset a troublesome gem to factory settings, so what purpose does it serve, beyond gratification to a sadist?
