That’s about as impactful a first-viewing as one can experience. I watched it to see it before the American remake, and then immediately vowed to never watch the remake.

I forgot Bening is in that too! Hard to beat her Carolyn Burnham performance in American Beauty, but I generally always enjoy her too.

Seeing her kill it for the first time in a long time in True Detective S4 was a treat. I never got to Nyad though.

Also agreed with JC here, but as a species, we do tend to stare at train wrecks and the like sometimes. Even Episode IX offers some flashes of decency… or, at least I didn’t hate it the second time 🤷♂️ Hope you enjoy!

Couldn’t agree more- it’s not perfect, but I liked the big swings and most of them landed for me. It was refreshing not being spoon-fed an algorithmic narrative.
