What I wore to MCV/Develop's 30u30 in 2023 when I went and supported @basicallilexi.bsky.social

It's such a tiny little detail that most people might not even notice but can mean so much for people who don't often see themselves in games.

The devs have even highlighted it in the key art. Hope you enjoy the demo <3

She looked like a different cat when I got her because of how malnourished she was. She was the size of a kitten despite being 4 years old.

Thinking the same about Jojo haha

I stroke the cat and I think I broke her. May she bring you joy

StepMania or the ripoff DDR is the rhythm game that ensured I wasn't completely inactive as a kid and is something I've been really tempted to get back into now that I have a little bit more space in my home. DDR. StepMania. God I just love these games. Take me on an arcade date and I'm yours.

Fable 2. This here franchise will be the reason I will eventually buy an Xbox Series X|S console. Fable might just be the only western RPG that I thoroughly love and adore. The amount of hours and playthroughs I had in this game on Xbox360 competed with the time I had in some of my JRPGs.

Bioshock. The odd futuristic dystopian noir/neo-noir underwater FPS game that I don't need to explain why it's so brilliant. It's bloody Bioshock.

Kingdom Hearts 2. People love to shit on Kingdom Hearts for its convoluted story and odd premise but I don't care. I adore this franchise in all its craziness and Kingdom Hearts 2 specifically will always hold a very special place in my heart (pun not intended).

Odin Sphere. It was actually really tough choosing between this and 13 Sentinels but this I have a longer history with. Every Vanillaware game is like a piece of art. When I first played Odin Sphere on PS2 it was unlike any JRPG I'd ever played as it was a 2D beat em up RPG.

Persona 4 Golden. I love Persona as a franchise and my entry point to it was Persona 5 but as much as I love that game, Persona 4 Golden just has the edge over it. I like the overarching plot and setting more and while Ryuji is my son... Kanji and Naoto are just the best.

Yakuza 0. This is dedicated to my dear friend @basicallilexi.bsky.social. I'm on the world's slowest attempt at playing through this franchise, meaning I still haven't even finished this game. The reason is... I get distracted by shit like this very dancing mini game. But my god is it glorious.

Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc. It's pretty quintessential play for anyone into their detective games or murder mysteries, so people into those two things already know why this game is iconic. My goal in life is to be built like Sakura.

Inscryption. This game is less of an acid trip and more of a weird fever dream. You can't talk about any aspect of this game beyond it being a deck builder without spoiling it. If you haven't played it yet, go play it.

Dicey Dungeons by @terrycavanaghgames.com. It's one of my favourite indies of all time and to this day I have not fully beaten it. This game is the one that got me into deck building roguelikes and I adore it with all my heart.

Astrobot. I had to. I just had to. This game from start to finish is just pure platforming joy and PlayStation nostalgia. I could just not talk about it.

Powerwash Simulator by @futurlab.bsky.social. Last year I wrote a guest piece for the site startmenu and had I not ended up writing about the industry layoffs I would have written about how Powerwash Sim got me through some of the darkest and most anxious months of my life in 2023.

Katamari Damacy: REROLL. So I only recently got into Katamari thanks to my dear best friend @toadsanime.bsky.social who wouldn't shut up about them. And yes, being a lil dude rolling up everything in the world is some good fun actually.

Gremlins Inc. This is hands down my favourite board game in existence and I don't get to play it nearly enough these days. I can't even quite pinpoint why I like it so much. Maybe it's because I'm so good at it.

Nightcall. Can you spot the pattern with these games yet. This one is about a taxi driver in Paris who is trying to catch a serial killer. It's a deeply noir-inspired story and you get really invested into the lives of some of these people you pick up in your taxi every night.
