Not sure if it counts as the cheapest, but shout-out to Brother B&W laser printers, sorted by low price first. Benefit I see is if I'm not printing all year round, I don't have to worry about ink drying out (toner should be okay long term). Not sure how they do with certain kinds of paper though.
