Oh, that shit never works for me either. You have to know how to experience joy in the first place in order to embrace it, which is what a lot of those people don't get. You're not broken, but their frame of reference is so limited they can't comprehend where you're at.

I've been over stuff like this a lot in therapy. It's hard to figure these things out when you haven't had room for joy or happiness or practice listening to yourself.
