The fact that he could call Phoenix Wright his husband still felt surreal enough that Miles would often pinch himself to remind him that, yes, this was real, Phoenix was his, and had been for years. Stifling another yawn, Miles shuffled up to him from behind and wound his arms around Phoenix’s waist under the apron, nuzzling his face up against the back of his head and kissing the freckles on Phoenix’s nape. Phoenix hummed. “Good morning to you, too, honey. Up already?” Miles peeked at the bags of flour and sugar, an open, half full carton of eggs, and an empty bottle of milk, as well as the various utensils littering the counter. There was a little bowl with thin, peeled apple slices next to the stove.

I wonder how many people know that Miffy is Dutch and not Japanese, just popular in Japan. Her original name is Nijntje and she was created by Dutch artist Dick Bruna as a bedtime story character for Dick's oldest son Sierk.

I imagine Miles looks at Trucy and Phoenix with a lot of bittersweetness in his heart. He sees himself in a way, but not quite. It's a 'could have been'. He smiles but it's painful at the same time. Feelings are complicated, aren't they?
