see i feel like you havent read the the original post, bc its not talking abt comment spam bots 😭😭 ao3 has as part of their TOS that they ban commercial shit. Ive seen ppls profiles w links to their barnes and nobles & ppl have complained abt how ao3 "makes money" but wont let them link patreon

man shitting on it was just the term i used 😭😭😭 it was still dismissive and i think its important that ao3 policy abt not allowing commercial activities should attention. the post isnt abt spam bots but their general TOS and ppl linking their patreons or w/e in their fics as well

also i am NOT saying that anti-scrape methods should not be implemented, just that there will other considerations that may make it more difficult

like i agree with you on the ai shit but like saying that there shouldnt be awareness abt ao3's TOS relating to commercial activities is weird

but they just wont be open to stating that it is AI slop. and with the fact that there isnt any current method to accurately identify if a work is AI, any method of banning the shit would be ineffective.

accessibility in relation to anti-scraping methods. ao3 tries to make their shit accessible on diff levels & anti-scrape methods may fuck with that. i agree with your statements on genAI but thats not what i asked, & in an ideal world ao3 could just ban it. but ppl will still make AI slop 1/2

commercial activities put ao3 at risk, genAI currently does not. i hate that shit as well, but ao3 also doesnt have a policy against AI works (and better for bc ppl actually admit they use AI knowing theyre not at risk of getting banned instead of hiding their lack of creativity)
