I'm always confused by this stance. You're saying that if Steven Miller was the Republican nominee, you would prefer him to become President than Gavin? You think that would be the moral thing to do?

He is drawing your attention away from what matters. Do not allow him to do that.

Oh man, I want Trump asked what he thinks about this. I bet his reply will be absolutely monstrous if the question is framed in a way praising Biden.

I don't know the developers could fix that.... They've given you block lists, but what else would you suggest?

I figured this was coming.

I am actually crying, which surprises me. Turns out he felt like a friend.

(oh, and don't forget about solar arrays. Way more KW per mass, just a bit more fragile. Point is, no one serious is thinking about restarting the core.)

(which is not to disparage Josh. If it's not an area of specific interest for you it's easy to hear what sound like powerful objections and not know the alternatives.)

Frankly, the Magnetosphere is only really important for very long term terraforming, which might not ever happen. People would live underground or in protected domes while the local infrastructure is built.

It's just not the problem Josh suggests it is. But it's easy to not understand that.

RTGs are simple and work in space quite well, and are quite low mass. SLS should be able to get about 35 tons to mars orbit, which with current RTG designs (like used in Cassini) is about 175kw of power. Rinse and repeat. Or improve designs. Or forget about the magnetosphere for 100yrs.

Actually, looks like a few nuclear reactors powering some electric magnet loops at the L1 Lagrange point would get it done.

OMG, right? Never seen this movie referenced anywhere.
