in a way since he has been surrounded by fellow academics for a long stretch of time, and it's only natural that he's fairly impatient when it comes to anyone outside of that realm
ALSO, i doubt someone like yakov little would've held daniil to such high esteem if he thought daniil was, well, stupid

and exactly!!!! it's also realistic-

his tale is clearly the struggle of which is more important: the preservation of human monuments or the very people themselves, and it's clear throughout the story that this very struggle is what drives him to the brink as he tries to maintain an almost unachievable balance

i feel as though p3 is also a response to these subset of fans that believe daniil to be unintelligent, when that was never the case. he *is* intelligent in the most academic sense, and that is his very issue. while the haruspex is superstitious, the bachelor is meant to be the logical

you can't feign the sort of intelligence daniil carries, and the passion he holds for scientific AND artistic feats. his confidence is a facade meant to conceal the mania/apathy that bounces within his skull as he tries to save a town from ruin and the rare, unseen treasures it holds

i think by extension, you're falling for the very traps that IPL deliberately instilled in each character. they reel you in with obvious tropes, and then subvert it by showing a more vulnerable side of each individual character by their respective routes. daniil isn't exempt from this

there's probably a lot more in the vaults somewhere that i don't feel like scrounging around for, might as well just replay the first two games while IPL slowly gets around to fixing all the main bugs and doodle some more out of it...

changeling's route is still very beloved to me from the sheer amount of ridiculousness that comes with it regardless of its budgetary problems
