Misadventures of an Aspiring Geek
I don't think I have to tell you in particular, but so many people seem blissfully unaware how absolutely stuffed shelters have become over the last 10+ years with not just "unwanted" pets. Runnaway cost of living are just exacerbating an already horrible situation ignored for years.

Pets in Europe have suffered for a long time from goverments ignoring / denying that they have a housing crisis. Finding rented accommodation that accepts cats or dogs has become incredibly difficult, and tenants always have to worry about getting evicted becayse someone else is willing to pay more.

(6/6) If businesses complain that the costs of employees are too high even after they open locations in "cheaper" areas, and accept workers who don't tick all their boxes, the government needs to find ways to reduce the median costs of living, by introducing measures like rent and utility cost caps.

(5/?) Pay scales build on top of those minimum income rates in three ways: relevant education, skills and years of experience, measured against the job description. This makes pay more predictable and transparent, and is used to determine raises for existing employees too.

(4/?) The applicable minimum income rate gets determined by a person's contractual place of work. This incentivises companies to have (small, additional) offices across the country, or even embrace WFH, to avail of the lower rates, trading them for a larger pool of potential employees.

(3/?) Each state gets income guides on top of that, in particular if that state's median costs of living are higher than the federal ones. Businesses can pay people less than the income guides, but there are penalties if they do that directly go into that state's financial support programmes.
October 16, 2025 at 10:32 PM
(2/?) The "minimum wage" is actually a minimum salary, meaning guaranteed annual income, excluding the value of benefits such as health insurance, bonuses, commission, etc. Part time work needs to be heavily regulated to benefit those who need it (students, people with disabilities, carers, ...).

That works with the foot soldiers. What is thecplan for those who give the marching orders?

I can see the university is already getting roasted on all social media channels, but I feel it's not personal enough yet for its leadership.

I get it, but they already are terrorising blue cities and disappearing people. If y'all allow this to continue because it's at leaast not officially martial law, you will continue to still have people thrown in and "lost" in concentration camps. That's just sacrificing a few people for "peace".

Nice write-up! I'm sure the steady diet of coke, burgers, fries and the other coke aren't helping his case either though.

Not if y'all deal with the billionaire takeover first. They might be above the law, but there are other ways to remove them from positions of influence.

The corporate officers and board members of for-profit health insurance companies are clearly not scared enough yet. How do they think this is gonna go if they ruin the lives of tens of thousands of people?

Noting here that nonprofit Blue Cross of Idaho had to lay off employees in April because the state decided to give contracts for Medicare and Medicaid to United Healthcare and Molina Healthcare, even ending the contravt early: www.yahoo.com/news/blue-cr...

People acting like universal suffrage was ever a thing in the US are wild. The fact that not all felons who did their time, completed probation/parole and are back to working and paying tax (!) can vote is mind-boggling.
