The personal tax system needs long term reform with abolition of employee NI and introduction of a single tax rate. This would be much fairer overall and harder for those on higher salaries to claim they are overtaxed. Pensioners could be compensated with a higher tax free allowance.

If you’re like most cats I know you’ll choose both!

Ha ha. Always remember trying to get a legendary 11 journey out the clipper card. If I recall, upstairs was like lord of the flies.

Not sure what this has to do with money saving. I think MSE is loosing the plot. Stick to what your good at - let others waste their time on judging crisps

Judging by the visible lettering on the bus station office this was taken during the SELNEC period.

Let’s hope they make the storyline more contemporary this time. The last series felt like a story line from the 1990s. The mistake was probably setting it in the present day but I guess that ship has sailed.

I can’t quite get my head around what this is saying. Is it saying current models are over estimating the number of MSPs the SNP might end up with? If so, you might want to re-edit in plain English so that we can understand what you’re saying!!!

Cutting the cash allowance is unlikely to result in people investing more in stocks and shares. Few people want the risk so they’ll either take the tax hit on interest or max out on premium bonds. It’s really a stealth tax rise dressed up as in sheep’s clothing.

Lack of distinction between PIP and the UC health uplift has been very misleading in this debate. PIP supports working people like me with extra costs related to disability. My capacity to earn is limited and I can’t simply work more hours to meet these costs if PIP is cut.

Glasgow already has a metro mayor. It’s the First Minister and the combined authority is the Scottish Parliament and Executive. Devolution in England is fast catching up with Scotland apart from some tax raising powers and control over some benefits there’s little difference.
June 16, 2025 at 6:37 AM
The SNP need to change tack. They should call out devolution for what it really is - a combined authority with the FM being a metro provost. Rather than seek to govern, it should say a vote for the SNP is an endorsement for independence. That should be the only thing set out in its manifesto
June 9, 2025 at 6:37 AM
The SNP fought the wrong campaign. It’s a warning all is not well in the central belt and they need to urgently change tack. Otherwise it will be in second place in Holyrood in 2026.

It’s got harder with Sky. It used to take a 30 minute call but this time
round took nearly an hour on web chat to eventually get a decent discount. I must admit I nearly walked from Sky this time round as they were very reluctant to offer a decent deal.

Just watched BBC New and was absolutely horrified by the scenes in Gaza. Something needs to be done NOW. It’s a catastrophe and I cannot believe the inaction by our own politicians. I felt like phoning my MP
and demanding they do something but would they listen?

This is an outrageous attempt to justify cuts that are indefensible. I am actually speechless!

Looks like the back end of the old Stockport bus station to me.

Whilst securing a supermarket deal might initially seem good news, wider availability stops products being special. It also exposes companies to more economic headwinds- Edinburgh Gin being a good example.

Something is going to have to change with Labour. More of the same won’t cut it and @scottishlabour.bsky.social need to step up to the plate and oppose the welfare cuts, restore winter fuel payments and stand up for Scotland’s people

There does get to a point where the expression ‘milking it’ comes to mind. Maybe time to move on.

Personally I think responsibility for transport (roads, ferries, trains, buses) in the Highlands and Islands should be devolved perhaps to a reformed Highlands and Islands Enterprise which should become a regional body covering economic development, transport and spacial planning.

Embracing Donald Trump would be appeasement pure and simple. It didn’t work for Neville Chamberlain and it won’t work now @anassarwar.bsky.social .
