the support.microsoft.com article about the new AI "features" in notepad, the app where you definitely always wanted and needed an LLM's putrid greasy fingers to massage your words with the delicate grace and finesse of hyenas at a gazelle carcass Several sections of the support article are highlighted or underlined to direct your attention to parts of the article that, in a grim ouroboros of pointlessness, themselves display signs of LLM-generated text. The two sentences that bookend a small bulleted list are almost identical: Sentence 1: "Whether you want to fine-tune your writing or distill complex information, these AI features help you work more efficiently in Notepad." Sentence 2: "Whether you're starting from scratch, fine-tuning existing text, or distilling complex information, these AI features help you work more efficiently in Notepad." No, I didn't make a mistake: the last part of each sentence is word-for-word identical. These two sentences are, like, 100 words apart. They're always both in view! The repetition serves no functional or rhetorical purpose!! AAAAAGH In the bullet points, some bizarre word abd phrasing choices are underlined: #1: "...making it easy to enhance your writing seamlessly." You know how, normally, enhancing your writing isn't seamless? Now it's seamless. No seams! #2: "Summarize quickly shortens long-form text..." Why the fuck would you specify that it shortens text "quickly"??? #3: "streamline your workflow" I'm always wishing that I could streamline my workload in fucking NOTEPAD. I'm always saying this. #4: "Write enables you to draft new content quickly and effortlessly" This is actually true. You can absolutely tell that this article's content was generated quickly, and that absolutely no effort was expended on it. Kudos for getting SOMETHING correct! In summary, thank you, Microsoft, for making notepad worse. It's what we've all been hoping for

To monitor tire pressure, a lot of cars use small sensors built into a valve stem, like the one in the picture. These sensors only need a tiny bit of power, so they have a small internal battery (frequently compared to a watch battery, although I'm not sure how close the specs are).
