Is it just a cinammon vs gnome thing? If you otherwise like gnome on debian, you could see if you could customize it to be more cinammon like. Just doing a quick google, looks like some gesture plugins exist that might be worth looking at extensions.gnome.org/extension/42...

For something super user friendly, I would consider trying one of these new immutable/atomic distros like Fedora Silverblue or VanillaOS.

Otherwise for traditional distros, PopOS, Mint, and Ubuntu are all worth looking at as well.

That's a good point, I didn't think of that. If it doesn't compromise the ergonomics/usability of the touchpads I don't have a problem with it. This design just looks bulky and uncomfortable, although it's just one image of a model. So hopefully thats not the case.

Why is having parity with the steam deck a goal? Why can't it just be it's own thing?

And yeah that was the point of the steam controller, it was a touchpad controller so you can play keyboard and mouse games on the couch. I don't know why it needs to be everything for everyone.

Honestly not a fan of that steam controller design. I don't understand the point of trying to cram two joysticks onto the controller. If you use a steam controller it is because you like the touchpads, and the controller's design should be optimized for that imo.

I love them, it is the whole selling point of the steam controller imo. Either you like it or don't, and if you don't there are plenty of better traditional joystick controllers out there.
