That’s a sales pitch that hasn’t been true for a good couple of months at least. They’ve been smearing that stuff in in all sorts of ways from sidebars, context menus, a tiny LLM to try to categorize tabs, etc. Every single damn one has a new off switch somewhere different.

I’m not sure “the rest of the world” loathes it per se, I run into relative normies even in tech circles who haven’t ever heard of or considered any possibility of negative consequences or externalities for LLM usage. They *do* know that it’s showing up in their performance reviews though.
