Scientists investigated the horticultural impacts of pesticide application and storage time of seeds on the production of Amaranthus as a leafy vegetable. Under high tunnel conditions, treated plants had higher leaf production.

Weed management in American elderberry is a major challenge. University of Missouri researchers found that both woodchip mulch and herbicide treatments were effective in reducing weed biomass and improving both plant growth and fruit yield.

Vinblastine is clinically used as an #anticancer therapy. Researchers studied the influence of light quality and intensity on vinblastine accumulation in periwinkle and found that the concentration was maximized at 25 or 50 W·m−2 using 385-nm LEDs.
