Great piece. I first heard about Cooper from 90s hip hop artists, oddly enough. Erykah Badu called it out in an interview with Rolling Stone in ‘97 and claimed that he had been killed by the government for his work, years before his actual death. It used to be “cool” to know about these references.

I’ve worked in transportation planning for two decades - i can explain in technical detail why this is insane. We don’t even have a way to query this information and put it into a traffic model!

This was my struggle last year. This year has been a touch better, but 2E is such an ache because you want so much for your kid and you feel that there is some magic key that could just unlock something but it’s not there (just my experience)

It’s legitimately an awful map, and having crooked Cleo Fields as a rep is almost worse than having no rep at all. He’s legitimately one of the most crooked people in LA gov.

This would be more outrageous if the backstory on this map was not known - it’s a spite map to eliminate Garrett Graves and draw a district that Cleo Fields could win, in exchange for Cleo to suppress the black vote in the governors race (Cleo ran it for the DNC)
