I will have more to say soon, but for now: Thank you for getting out to vote, and making your voice heard. I am so grateful to continue to serve as your councillor for the next four years, and can’t wait to continue building a stronger Edmonton together.

I do not take this responsibility lightly. Thank you for placing your trust in me once again. I am ready to get to work immediately on the changes and improvements we have been talking about with neighbours at their front doors and throughout the campaign.

This is one of the many reasons why I love our city. People show up. They put in the work. They come together and rally around what we know is possible – not just to make our lives better today, but to leave things a little better for those who come after us.

It’s difficult to put into words how much every action, every volunteer shift, and every donation from hundreds of Edmontonians over these two campaigns means to me. It is humbling and inspiring.

With 130 volunteers knocking doors since the spring, and spending countless hours dropping flyers, building and delivering signs, and having conversations with their neighbours – this was a people-powered campaign.

As it should be.

Local government should stay local. That’s what I stand for, and that’s why I’m running for re-election as an independent. Talk to your friends, family, and neighbours about the risk party politics poses to our local democracy, and do your research before voting October 20. www.ashleysalvador.com

Increasing housing supply is critical for moderating housing costs, but the market alone will never solve the affordable housing crisis, which is why we need continued investment in housing across the spectrum.
