I dye fabric first because I don’t always love the outcome and don’t want to ruin a garment. That said, I have over dyed garments to get a new look, it just feels a little more risky for me. polyester thread won’t pick up the dye that I use, so dyeing the garment won’t dye the thread that I’ve used

I adore 70s pattern illustrations! Maybe I subconsciously strive to look like them?!
