Fast forward to where I think Hawke truly shines, is the beginning of the mage rebellion. When Ander's blows up the chantry, they are forced to make a decision, protect Anders, or kill him, and I think Killing is the best choice as he killed several innocents.

into the circle and Carver willingly joins the templars (Fuck Carver) and so in both situations, they are in very dangerous situations. Eventually when we get to the battle with the Arishok, Hawke's 'champion' status is gained, as he essentially saves the free marches from a Qunari invasion

they just move on through humor and love, and of course, after meeting Varric, goes on his and Bertram's expedition, and it all goes wrong, especially if you take your sibling, as they get blighted and are forced to go with the wardens and do the joining. if you don't take them, Bethany is forced

Upon getting to Kirkwall, Hawke and their family is frustrated to find out that Hawke and their sibling will need to essentially be sold to a merc group or group of smugglers for the next 5(? I don't quite remember) years. But this is where purple hawke shines, instead of getting depressed

Now for Hawke. You can def tell Hawke was made as a mimic of Shepard from Mass Effect, but I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing as they abandon the paragon system for DA2. Hawke is fleeing with their family from the blight from the first game, and are forced to Kirkwall

But the Warden does not let this stop them, they pick up their weapon and keep going, finding new friends and family, and maybe even a lover, along the way
November 28, 2024 at 8:28 AM
then, the warden, who is sometimes as young as 18, depending on origin, is forced to do the joining and fight the blight, but not just that, they are forced to watch as the wardens are decimated, this second family they just found, destroyed by one man's selfish decision
November 28, 2024 at 8:27 AM
The Warden is such an interesting case as EVERY origin in DA:O is technically canon to every other one. The fate of each origin just depends on Duncan being there to save them, wrong place right time type of shit

I could see why a lot of people don't like this reveal, but I loved it, as it explained a LOT about the elves to me, like the well of sorrows, the Eluvians and so on.
November 28, 2024 at 8:24 AM
Then cut to 10 years later, We find out more about the elves, specifically that they were spirits, and now my 23 year old mind is blown once again. The elves being spirits explains why they were once so advanced in terms of magic, and why they fell due to the evanuris's hubris
November 28, 2024 at 8:23 AM
and back when I was a kid, I had the theory of 'The Elves lost their immortality due to humanity enslaving them' but then, in DA:I, Solas reveals that the elves lost their immortality due to the Evanuris, and that shit blew my little 14 year old mind.
