I've seen some people flat out surprised watching me play Mega Man or Metroid and finding out you can just...run. A large chunk of them are more conveniently jumped over than they are to engage. They don't give exp so...I suppose it's up to the player what they wanna do and what's most fun for them

Seconded on Secret of Mana and Mega Man 2 lol. SoM has basically 0 reward for exploration and MM2's endgame softlocks you if you don't hoard specific weapon energy.

I could make a giant list for the opposite though, games reviewers/media said sucked but actually are super neat. Xenoblade 2, FFXIII.
