When #VaLeg reconvenes on April 2, they should reject the governor’s harmful proposals and remain committed to welcoming communities and a high-quality public education for every student in every zip code.

#VaGov seems to be reviving his proposal to coerce local jails to enforce federal immigration detainers or face state $$ cuts. This harms immigrant families & would be costly for localities by making facilities hold people up to 2 days after they’d otherwise be released.

Using some of that “savings” for unaccountable private school vouchers will further reduce real educational opportunity.

Removing most of the proposed money to lift the arbitrary cap on state funding for support staff would harm Virginia students who deserve clean schools, working technology, and other support staff who can work with their families to address barriers.
