Oh also note that you have to actually run a desktop for the driver to drop the card into the lowest P8 power state in addition to loading nvidia-drm. Sometimes I forget and measure without X running.

The vgapci bit is interesting, it would help out of the box a lot. What’s hurting us is our FreeBSD driver doesn’t support certain runtime power features we have on Linux, namely putting the GPU to sleep when not in use. It’s been on my todo list to add.
