i think even some of the religious parody niches used to have like an intrinsic sense of community to them that wasn't based solely around like pseudointellectually fetishizing logic and reason or cultural christian nationalism

i already said about as much in another thread but i do treat the argument against god as a tacit acknowledgement that the god idea is strong enough to expend philosophical energy on and anthropomorphosize which is a quasi-literal belief comparable to that of many confessed jews and christians

whether it is "correct" to pray in the churches of their oppressors, lots of folks do not find the contradiction of faith and justice to be unresolvable. if the oppression is done in material reality by people and institutions (and it is) atheists oughta attack the material and not the spirit world

it's fine to just say all the big ai companies pledged not to enter contracts with war profiteers and then totally reneged on it. it's fine to just say respeecher partnered with brave1 to make acoustic defense tech they sold to the idf. we can ignore all this pointless window dressing

i am not an ai activist, it is probably true that every single person who has argued for "ethical ai" in an official capacity is a bastard scoundrel, but we should think harder about why we actually hate these people and these things. and if the answers don't make sense under scrutiny, replace them

too many people fixate and rag on apparent flaws in things that they assume should be perfect. whether designed by human or by machine, any strand of hair out of place must be part of some great cosmic mistake. their attitudes toward art are prescriptivist, self-defeating, and will age horribly

but it doesn't look shitty "because it's ai"! whoever wanted the thing to exist didn't *care* about not making it shitty - which is a problem which expands wayyy beyond the bounds of ai, and it's not actually due to those generative tools but by the commonly shared mindset of their users and shills
