I suspect you may have "smart features" disabled in gmail?
That's the only effective way to disable Gemini. This will impact not only gmail but also other Google services (including Drive).

It's a pretty cool movie, though it's been years since I've seen it.
They did a TV version something like a decade later that wasn't too bad either--though I only watched an episode or two.
