A tough call but probably the right one if you couldn’t do either review justice. Was it because the monetary reward was unsubstantial, subject matter, lack of time?

Many thanks for the introduction James. Although I can’t compete with his excellent tomes on how the Middle East assumed its current form, I hope I can at least complement his big picture efforts with my own work on the extraordinary individuals who played amazing roles in shaping this history
