It seems no photos/videos/recordings is pretty universal as a rule, but interestingly the Scottish parliament does address art! They say “obtain prior permission to paint, sketch or draw” presumably to prevent large easels etc, or limit every paper sending an artist which seems quite reasonable.

A bit of poking on my phone (hardly full research, but it’s something) shows that visitors to Parliament in Ottawa “may not read, write or speak” while attending a session, but I can’t find a reference for that rule (although no speaking falls under don’t be disruptive so that’s understandable)

That’s… strange. I mean, courts have a “no photographs” rule (hence court sketch artists!) But now I’m curious if “no drawing” is included in other Westminster-form assemblies and was just truly missed in AB, and what the rationale for such a rule would be in the first place!

Which is beyond concerning. It means that the fine is simply the cost of election interference, and can be anticipated. It’s not a deterrent or punishment at all!

Applying labels is good, but presents a v. easy path for misinformation to spread/indexed by web engines. Already cases where users are added to labelled lists & associated with falsehoods in name/username searches. Not sure of solution but problematic as-is. www.reddit.com/r/BlueskySoc...
