Hi Andrew - how do you see next week playing out for the Pats, timing-wise? Will there be announcements right in the 12 pm hour, or will that only be with the big names, while they wait out the middle tier in the days that follow? Thanks!

Great read!

Beyond what the name implies, what are Thomas Brown's responsibilities as Passing Game Coordinator? How does that fit in with McDaniels/ other position coaches (QB, WR, etc)?

Good point. With newer owners probably something to do with how they made their money (you have to be a different mentally to afford to pay $1 billion vs. what franchises used to be worth). But with 2nd gen, wonder if it has something to do with not being as "rich" as the Steve Cohen's of the world

I can't remember where I read it, but it's the difference between first generation and second generation owners. First gen (George) want to win at all costs, money be damned. Second gen run the teams like a business and winning is a nice to have

What has been holding back the Yankees from developing upper-level hitting talent (with only a few exceptions) in recent years?

In the span of 83 days, he made 17 starts (one every 4.8 days); won 11 games; threw 7 CGs (7 2/3 innings/ start); 3 shut outs; 1.65 ERA; and 4.9 bWAR 🤯

Totally. I do think there is some media market/ visibility factors too. How many people were watching 90's Rangers/ Marlins/ Padres (in Brown's case) vs Yankees in MLB At Bat era. Plus that 08 Brewers run for CC still seems otherworldly in my mind

This is what feels so tough. AVP seems like the right guy to develop Maye specifically, but on a performance/ discipline/ in-game adaptations side of things, the team is in desperate need of something new to fix that. Though, discipline was sliding last year too

It's interesting- I agree but at the same time, thinking about it, CC seems so much more dominant, even if the stats don't bear it out. Almost feels like a recency thing/my age/how they did it argument people are making. Which kind of harkens back to the whole Jack Morris HOF thing-and if he's in...

100% agree - can’t waste a top 5-10 pick on guys who might be long-term guards, especially with all the other holes on the roster

They are getting out-everything-ed right now
