There are some edits, comments and notes that are very suspicious in OpenStreetMap. Fake pois and new tags. Notes that have meaning but in some random places. Comments to edits that human-like but dont make sense. But what are you describing is more likely to be a newbie in my opinion

HOTOSM is very newbie friendly. So it's more likely done by a person who just doesnt know better. Usually it's possible figure out logic. For example if suggested imagery is blurry and they dont switch then they can add imaginary objects. Wrong tags are usually because of how it's described in iD.

Not the same quality but it already exists. People use regular 360 cameras instead of fancy stuff that google uses. Mapillary, KartaView and Panoramax. OpenStreetMap even has few cameras that they lend in EU and US so people dont have to buy. For example in US: openstreetmap.us/news/2025/04...

After Mapillary was sold to Facebook there were calls to switch to Panoramax which is open source and federated. But I dont know if uploading focus shifted or not and I think people often upload to multiple websites anyway.
