To be a bit more dire, or perhaps optimistic, I would suggest that it can ONLY happen in circumstances like these, because we are riding the wave which is the culmination of their unsustainable efforts. We WILL crash upon the cliffs, it is only a question of when, and how disastrously.

OH shit that just brought back a fkn memory holy fuck
That shit almost happened to me. I was a kid (less than 7yo?) and was riding a bike, and a truck was backing out of someone's driveway and didn't see me. I skidded to a stop, barely escaped, but the bike got crushed.

It's SO exhausting needing to go through this just to go anywhere, or get anything at all done. It's exhausting just knowing how much potential for danger there is, and knowing how much of it is outside your own control.

I am firmly in the latter category. In fact, being on the road at all is incredibly stressful for me, and the only thing that mitigates that, at all, is to be the one driving, since I know I'll at least *attempt* to be as courteous and careful as possible.
