Make no mistake, we will get things wrong, we will continue to trial and error as we always have done in the course of human history. And we’ll find a way forward.

I empathize with those who are scared. We all are. But those who seek to know more will always prevail.

A core emotional tenet of it all feels based on this need for certainty. Everything has to be the way it was, when things were simpler, less complicated, less connected.

Ironically at the most beautifully uncertain time where the possibilities are endless, some want to drag us back to the darkness.

It’s vindicating feeling like you were never crazy but also heartbreaking to see all of this

Like the last truly new and unique shooter that’s come out was The Finals, and that leans into class-based gameplay that you could make an argument is very hero-esque with different abilities etc

I think it’s genre fatigue that’s the main issue not necessarily the “hero” aspect of it. Since most are F2P the monetization of said games has become hyper aggressive

It used to be unique gameplay experiences keeping these separate, now it’s about skins and customization

They’ve actively gotten more brazen to keep up with their aging demographic. As they become older, they need to come up with more sensationalist pieces to keep their readers energized, angry and (most importantly) voting.

By comparison, we don’t have a unifying authority to tell us how to feel

This Gen X cohort of politicians are so so close to getting it. One can only hope that they’re listening to millennials, Gen Z and the hard data that supports what we’ve all known for a very long time - immigration is only one part of the bigger problem with Western societies.

If you keep your young people, offer them a better future with attractive salaries and infrastructure that actively works for its own people, you’ll organically reduce the necessity and impact of immigration on your own country. You’ll celebrate newcomers easier rather than fear them.

Supposedly 9 million of the kingdom’s 68.35 million people are not working. That’s 13%, and whilst those who cannot work legally or medically should be cared for that percentage is way too high to be sustainable.

A more robust welfare system that cannot easily be abused - hello?

Immigration adds strain to an already strained system. That’s true enough. Turn the tap off, the glass stops overflowing. But the systems that work for the country need to be more robust.

Better NHS, better rail and transport, better roads and infrastructure are all badly needed

The UK has been reliant on immigration to replace the droves and droves of young people who leave for Canada, Australia and America in search of better opportunities. And yet politicians love to focus on immigrants for things being worse.
