My guess is that a Simons extension was going to be something like 4/$120m, maybe more. So if you didn’t want to do that, moving to Jrue who is a better fit, roughly the same price/year, and will be at least as tradable (probably more) then Simons going forward? I can see why they did it.

Because there is no plan. Every transaction is viewed in a vacuum. Thats why they can’t trade anyone. They are trying to win individual deals instead of deals that move in a direction.
