Just experienced the most intense tear gassing of my life by federal officers outside the ICE facility in Portland where marchers gathered. There was no fast exit as they indiscriminately threw loads of gas and flash bangs. Children were in the crowd screaming. @oregoncapitalchronicle.com

Daily microaggressions, stereotypes, and racial profiling may seem small to others, but they accumulate. Constantly being aware of how you are seen because of your race leads to stress, hypervigilance, and emotional exhaustion.

When I see immigrants being arrested and deported by ICE, what stands out to me most is the racial discrimination behind it. Some immigrants are targeted more than others, not because of what they did, but because of how they look and where they’re from.
